This is abstract mixed media art work. I have used a variety of media, including, oil pastels, oil paints and cold wax. For the mark making process I used scrappers, needles, to scratch and smooth the paint plus the mono print process to create the suggestion of leaves. The verticals on the lefthand side also give the impression of a wooden hillside encouraging the viewer to travel ‘Into the blue’.

 I was great fun experimenting with the different media to produce the variety of textures. It was difficult not to do too much experimenting where I was actually in danger of over working the painting. 

The mono print of the leaves in the foreground add texture as well as providing depth to the painting. The viewer is drawn in and through transparent layers of colour towards the blue hues on the horizon. The verticals suggest a wooden hillside also allow the viewer to view to see into the blue.
